Technology is Taking Over Service Industry

The role of technology has been growing in the service industry. Online booking a hotel and checking in with a reference number emailed to you is the most common thing, which would have been impossible a few years ago. Now-a-days booking, point of sale and reviews are regularly handled purely with the help of technology in the service industry. There are some exciting developments to integrate technology with epos even further in day to day activity of hotels, bars and restaurants.

Fast food became faster than before

At the beginning of this year the refurbishment of many of the restaurants included touch screen self service machines, moving from the model customers had become used to, towards a speedier fast food service. Customers have the chance to browse menu, customize their food they like. They can also select a section in the store to sit, where their food is served at the table. This change in epos has been spread widely especially in city centers. It enables more people to be served in very short period of time.
The most benefited from this technology is retail sector, with self serve checkouts in supermarkets. This technology is now being introduced even in smaller businesses as well. People in hospitality sector want even more personal touch with their service. It’s time to branch certain areas of hospitality using technology to increase footfall along with improving customer satisfaction.

Pie and a Pint

Some of the pubs and bars also had a huge success with the implementation of technology in their service model. An app has been rolled out to many locations for cheap food and drink at the bar. This enables customers to use their smart phones for ordering, customizing and paying for goods. The app does away the need to queue at the bar instead of using table numbers to identify the place to serve them. Buying rounds among the friends is now much simpler. Some of the customers argue this is removing the customer service element. Having a waiter/waitress coming near your table to check your satisfaction has been increased.

Cash is no longer a King

Now-a-days cash is becoming rarer in bars, restaurants and hotels across the world. Money undoubtedly moving towards a digital platform. The various types of payments include contactless payments on cards, apple pay and prepaid wristbands. No worries of change or cost of banking, businesses are adapting well to the wide spread use of technology from patron as well as employee. Traditional tipping has become easily integrated with epos system technology.

Technology has become a part of our daily life, people will expect it and if not given the opportunity to use it and not just a cash sense, but in the services and products the businesses provide. It’s common to have smart TV’s, a complicated shower with multiple options and buttons and electromagnetic keycard in hotel rooms. They are considered as common now-a-days. Customers expect more such as touch screen tills with all choices as individual buttons.

In near future not too distant, hospitality businesses will be given an opportunity to manage assets electronically. One possibility is to send automatic messages to managers or suppliers to restock bar shelves or hotel linen closets when stock is removed. In case of consumables this will help to have instant customer data, which is truly reflective of buying habits. This data can be used for marketing purposes either inside or outside the business.

The technology is playing a crucial role in the hospitality business. So in order to fulfill the customer requirements and also to manage your business, epos system will help you to meet the requirements of customers with time and run your business in profits.
